This 2 hour introductory hydroponic workshop is intended for people who have little or no experience with this method of growing. It includes a brief history of hydroponics, a discussion on the basics of growing hydroponically and an overview of several systems. Participants will build and take home their own hydroponic system. This 3 hour workshop picks up where “Getting Started With Hydroponics” leaves off. It’s also appropriate for people who have experience with hydroponics but are looking to work with more advanced systems. Participants will explore different types of growing mediums, nutrient solutions and lighting options. The pros and cons of hydroponic and aeroponic systems will be explored. Participants will build a more complex hydroponic system to take home. Workshop fee: $150 Materials are included with fee.

This 2 hour workshop is designed for children ages 8-12 who are interested in growing an indoor garden of their own. Kids will build their own hydroponic system using recycled soda bottles and everyday, household materials. They will have a choice of planting different types of herb seeds including basil, oregano and thyme in their systems. In the process they will learn about the life cycle of plants including seeds, roots, stems, leaves as well as plant reproduction. Workshop fee: $50 Materials are included with fee.
